It Takes A Village Canine Rescue

Fostering Information

It Takes a Village Canine Rescue, Inc. (ITV) is a volunteer ran, foster home based, no-kill dog rescue!

This means that we could never do what we do without the assistance of our dedicated group of volunteers and foster homes! If you're interested in fostering, we cannot thank you enough! It is because of wonderful families like yours that open their homes to beautiful dogs, like Gentry above, that allow ITV to be so successful!

The nice thing about fostering is that it is the perfect solution if you have the room and time to save a life, but feel like you do not have the financial stability to take care of an additional pet. In fact, all we ask our foster homes to provide for their foster dog(s) is food, water, shelter, exercise, unlimited love and companionship, some basic training and house manners, and the ability to get the foster(s) to a couple of our adoption events each month. We do not require you to be able to make it to every adoption event, but adoption events allow our dogs to show off for potential adopters, and since most of our dogs are adopted based on their perfect personalities and not their looks, adoption events are vital to successfully finding a majority of our dogs their forever homes!

If any vetting is necessary while a foster dog is in your care, ITV covers the costs as long as it is ITV that makes the appointment with our veterinarians. All of the ITV dogs are altered, dewormed, and vaccinated while in their foster homes, and we do need fosters who are able and willing to work with scheduling for these events! However, we completely understand that a vast majority of our fosters work, so transportation to appointments can sometimes be arranged. We also give emergency contact information in case your foster manages to escape from your yard or experiences a veterinary emergency.

If you believe that fostering sounds like fun, we would have to agree with you! Fostering definitely has it's hardships, and saying goodbye to some of these dogs we have welcomed into our homes is never easy. However, saving the lives of hundreds of dogs and assisting them in finding their forever homes is more rewarding than words can describe!

If you're interested in fostering, please fill out the fostering application in the tab above! Along with your completed application, please include any breed, age, or behavior desires or restrictions so that the ITV board members can attempt to best match your home with the most appropriate dog! Although we cannot guarantee the house behavior of any of the dogs that we pull from the shelter, we tend to be a fairly good judge of dogs after so much experience in rescue!
